ACNE members are getting ready to welcome this year’s guests from Nantes. The Nantais, who include what must be a record 6 couples, will arrive in Cardiff on the evening of Saturday 20th April and return to Nantes on Saturday 27th April. We are preparing a programme of visits for them, which will include a trip to the National Botanical Gardens, whisky tasting at Penderyn, Margam Abbey and an exploration of Cardiff Docks, including the Greek Orthodox Church.
A highlight of the week will be a celebratory dinner in Cardiff Golf Club on Wednesday 24th April as this year is the 60th anniversary of the formal twinning of Cardiff and Nantes, as well as the 70th anniversary of the first ever school exchanges between the two cities. The Cardiff Nantes Exchange, along with Cardiff Council, the Club de Français and the Société Franco-Britannique are planning an evening of music and good food.
